Washington Executive Leadership Academy

The Washington Executive Leadership Academy (WELA) is a professional development opportunity for employees within the Washington State Community and Technical College system. It is part of the system’s succession plan – a “grow your own” academy.

WELA is designed to identify and equip administrators to move into Dean, VP and President positions. If you are considering applying for a senior level position in the next 2 to 4 years, this program will provide you with critical information, skills and relationships that will help you as a candidate as well as in your current and future positions.

WELA focuses on developing your knowledge of the Washington State system and your candidacy skills. You will gain visibility and develop contacts across the state, hone your application and interviewing skills, and deepen your leadership knowledge. You will create an individualized career plan for the year and work with a mentor who holds the position to which you aspire, giving you an opportunity to observe another system college.
